XMAS DOWNUNDER

"DownUnder", so in Australia, the weather is hot at this time of the year, with temperatures of 30ͦ C! Well, in Australia, at Christmas time it's summer. In fact, gardens are full of flowers and people do Christmas shopping wearing T-shirt and short pants. Anyway, Australian's houses are decorated normally, with Christmas wreaths and tree; but the Christmas tree may not be a fir tree but a branch taken from an Australian gum tree, a plant native to Australia. The majority of Australian people usually celebrate December  25th around a swimming pool or on the beach and Santa arrives on a surfboard! In Australia, the  Christmas dinner is not a classic turkey but an estival barbecue; so the Anglo-Saxon  traditional food is not a trend and Australians have personalyzed their Christmas lunch and dinner with their typical dishes. December 26th brings ( all around the country) sport events, and this is just the beginning of summer holidays!!

                                                         ROCCA DRAGONIS


Rocca Dragonis ( from Latin ) is a castle made of stone, built between the 8th and 9th centuries and it was late changed by the Aragonese dynasty that was from Spain. Anyway during the Middle Age , this castle belonged to important families as the dynasty of Duchi Carafa. The castle is situated on Mount Petrino in Mondragone ( South of Italy ), it was  Sinuessa's main castle, Sinuessa was an ancient colony of the Roman Empire that was covered by the water 10 metres below the sea level around 296 b. C . Today , Rocca Dragonis , is an important attraction of Mondragone and it is usually visited at Easter holidays.

                              










                                              MUSEUM OF MONDRAGONE


The museum of Mondragone has got different archeologicals collections from the prehistory to the Middle age and it is divided in 4 rooms. The first represents the local prehistory and also olds finds of the Roman colony "sinuessa" ; the second exhibits ancients finds  of the archaic age , while the third and the fourth room are dedicated to the Roman age and finds of that time.
But one of the most important thing inside the museum is the " Venere of Sinuessa". It was found in 1911 and , probably , was made by Prassitele , that was the most important Greek sculptor of the 4th century. In ancient times , this wonderful statue, decorated the old house of Marco Tullio Cicerone in Sinuessa





                 

                                                           THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING

It is a British romantic biographical drama film. It is about one of the most important scientists in the world: Stephen Hawking , and expecially of his life with his wife Jane. When Stephen was 21 years old got a doctorated in physics and cosmology , but in the same year he got an horrible diagnosis , in fact he had an infirmity to some neurons that paralyzed him. But Sthephen , with his wife Jane , fought against this infirmity and thanks to their determination Stephen became an important scientist who changed science.
 The main actor is Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking and Felicity Jones as Jane Hawking. This movie in 2014 had a big succes , I think that it is a perfect mix of biographical and drama kind of movie. What I prefere of this movie is the protagonist , in fact he had a physical and mental transformation into Stephen Hawking and it is very remarkable because he engaged a lot , expecially physically, to play this role. At the same time , also the soundtracks are perfects, I think they are played in precises moments of the movie and they are perfects melodies too. So James Marsh has been a good director , in fact this movie teachs us that we must not hand over in our lives as Stephen.
